Do you have a DSLR camera and only know how to turn it on and shoot in auto? Are you a parent and want to take better photos of your kids? Is photography a new hobby? This beginner’s workshop is designed for anyone who wishes to learn to have better control over their DSLR camera beyond auto mode.

If you want to learn how to use your camera functions, learn what ISO, aperture, and shutter speed is what their relationships are, learn how to compose and want to explore beyond the Auto function of your camera, then this workshop is for you.

The workshop consists of indoor instruction time as well as opportunities to practice outdoor.

What you will learn:

-The important numbers, letters and buttons on your camera and lens

-Using different dials and exposure modes on your camera

-What ISO, Aperture, and Shutter Speed is and how they relate to each other

-Photographing in natural light

-How to get proper exposure

-Focusing your camera

-Simple composition tips to improve your photos

-Using different focal length on your lens to your advantage

-Taking portraits: hands-on practice time of taking photos of each other under various lighting directions, using different compositions and varied ISO, aperture and shutter speed.

Please bring a DSLR camera with a lens and memory card. We’ll be photographing each other at some point and I’d love to gift each student with a headshot, so wear something comfortable but decent:)
